Press Release 2: Cross-Border Cooperation Heats Up in the LED Industry – BOE, HKC and Others Expand Capacity Layout
02/12/2025

In November 2025, the LED display industry has set off an upsurge of investment and cooperation. LCD giants such as BOE and HKC are accelerating their cross-border layout. Leading enterprises are promoting the integration and upgrading of the LED industrial chain through strategic agreements and capacity expansion, bringing new changes to the industry competition pattern.
On November 27, the LED chip project invested by HC Semitek (a subsidiary of BOE) with 2 billion yuan was officially put into production in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu. With a monthly production capacity of 500,000 pieces, the project focuses on the two high-growth fields of automotive LEDs and plant lighting, filling the gap in high-end LED chip capacity in East China. A relevant person in charge of BOE said, "The commissioning of this capacity is an important extension of BOE's 'Screen of Things' strategy, which will realize the coordinated development of display panels and LED chips."
HKC Group has set its sights on the Mini LED field, announcing an investment of 9 billion yuan in the construction of a high-end optoelectronic display CPI production line, focusing on the production of Mini LED backlight modules and related components. After completion, the project will become one of the largest Mini LED core component production bases in China, and is expected to be put into mass production in the first half of 2026.
In addition to capacity layout, industrial ecological cooperation is also advancing simultaneously. On November 5, Philips Commercial Display, AOC Commercial Display and Chengdu CHENXIAN Optoelectronics signed a tripartite strategic cooperation agreement, integrating their respective advantages in brand, channels and core technologies to jointly develop high-end LED display solutions for government and enterprises, education and medical fields. Prior to this, Rayman Optoelectronics had reached a cooperation with CHENXIAN Optoelectronics, focusing on the R&D and commercialization of Micro LED products.
According to the data from "2025 Global LED Display White Paper", the output value of China's LED display market has reached 48.6 billion yuan. With the continuous entry of LCD giants, the speed of industrial technological iteration will be further accelerated, and the "LED-ization" process of commercial display scenarios is expected to speed up.
